I can confirm with absolute, 100% certainty that the agent was incorrect on this. You will be told the same when trying to access the lounge.

The codeshare vs non-codeshare isn't really a mystery or anything new either. The fare that UA publishes from XXX-ORK allows EI segments to be used (as well as UA segments, of course). This means that if EI inventory shows up and/or UA inventory isn't available for the dates you book, it will be ticketed under the EI flight number. It makes no difference to lounge access.
