My usual rentals through Hertz Gold Plus program are great - at most airport locations you just find your name on a board, walk to your assigned car and drive away. At the end of the rental you just drop off the car and hand over the keys. Maybe you just need a new agency.
My last rental through Hertz involved the Seinfeld skit.
"Name please."
"cow. I made a reservation for a compact."
"Okay let's see here...I'm sorry we have no compact available at the moment."
"I don't understand, I made a reservation. Do you have my reservation?"
"Yes we do. Unfortunately, we ran out of cars."
"But the reservation keeps the car here. That's why you have the reservations!"
"I know why we have reservations."
"I don't think you do. If you did, I'd have a car."
But in all seriousness, they offered me a minivan. I lol'd.
They ended up upgrading me to a
much nicer car.
