Cash or avios doesnt matter to me. I travel a lot in USA. Especially regional routes and the 4500 avios tickets help me a lot when the ticket prices are high and i have to plan a trip urgently. I personally prefer email, but then either method is a bit of a lottery. Get the right person and you'll hit the jackpot, get the wrong person and they'll give you little.
Those 4500 Avios plus a few dollars redemptions are great, need to make use of them next time I'm in the US. It makes our EU Reward Flight Savers look expensive, even though I also consider them excellent value.
