My wife has limited mobility and has to use the services of Omniserve at LHR when travelling BA. T5 seems to be the problem, there are often long waits at transfer as martyndavid reports. Seems staff get delayed at transfer security. Also have found it depressing the number of paxs waiting for pushers at the control desk just before immigration. The pusher normally has to report in there before heading on to the lounge.
Never had a problem being picked up in the F lounge.
Praise must go to a BA crew the other Saturday night. Flight arrived early, but no wheel chair. Purser, plus one cabin crew and Pilot waited with us and two elderly Indian passengers for nearly twenty minutes for pushers to arrive. Finally one arrived, she said she would push the three in turn to the top of the airbridge were a buggy would be waiting to take the two Indian's onward and she would push my wife to the Sofitel. The Purser offered to push my wife but the pusher said was allowed. So when all three had been got into Terminal 5, no buggy in sight. Again, the Pilot and CC offered to push people to the control but were told wasn't allowed. So CC decided to wait with the two Indians until the buggy arrived. When we passed the control desk they had no idea when the buggy would arrive.
At least at LHR the pushers appreciate that accompanying paxs may also not be able to walk fast. In ARN the other week had to nearly run to keep up with pusher. By the time we got to the Radisson Blu SKy City from T2 I was thinking I might need emergency medical help
