On the 'make reservations" page, click "one way", fill in NRT and LAX as origination destination, select 7/13 as you travel date (this just gets you into desired month, because when you click "award" and "search", it comes back with a calendar for July, not just options for the 13th.
The coach award on the 14th is now gone, but the Global First / First for 80k miles via HNL (lie-flat all the way on one options) is still available on 13th.

Just curious - are you in Japan now? Does the Rising Sun appear in the upper right part of your screen? I don't know if UA IT is smart enough to vary awards based on country of login origination.
