HNL airport ops above and below the wing are staying in-house. No danger to staff there for now.

The concern is for stations like OGG, KOA, and LIH, which, at best, see fewer than 10 daily movements (even if all mainline). Especially airports like LIH, which handles 2-5 flights a day. The new contract makes mainline staffing at these low-volume stations difficult to sustain. Delta can get around it with their Ready Reserve program and non-union work rules, but the nature of the agreement UA struck with its passenger service staff essentially consolidates jobs at hubsites and other high-volume stations at the expense of mainline staff at outstations. There have been some benefits as well, like bringing in-house formerly outsourced UAX staff at hubs. Arguably, that change impacts many more travelers than an outsourced station with a handful of daily flights.

Of course, it is terribly unfortunate to see longtime UAL staff uprooted, and therein lies the concern.
