Ah, well you need to be a bit careful. I'm sure among the Hamburg media types you are correct, but other areas of German business life can be quite conservative, including the former East Germany. Engineers in particular. I always carry a tie to Germany just in case, and, Paralytic, I'll be the second person to say I enjoy wearing them from time to time.

I've certainly found Berlin and Munich, in the Electronics industry, to have very relaxed business dress - never been near a Hamburg media type, fortunately
