Agreed! E to W is OK, but the redeyes W to E are painful. HNL-ATL isn't too bad though. But for example SFO/LAX to ATL redeyes often seem to arrive early, and if you're connecting then you just have a longer layover, while it would have been easier to get a bit more sleep on the plane. This is not a criticism of DL . Just an observation. The jet stream and other variables are what they are, and as a shareholder I want DL to be efficient. But I do dislike the domestic W to E redeye flights on any airline.
