Regarding splitting the fares -- why on earth would we pay for checked bags that we don't need? If BA are going to issue separate fares, surely they should expect people to use them? My issue isn't with the splitting into two PNRs, it's with the abject stupidity of how they split them. Do you really think it sensible to put three children on one PNR and two adults on the other?
Sorry, wasn't meaning for my comment to come across too harshly. I guess the problem is maybe you said to the agent I want the two adults on non-HBO fares and the three kids on HBO fares, and this is exactly what the agent did. You did get what you asked for, but as I noted earlier I would have hoped the agent might have pointed out the disadvantages. I wouldn't have done it myself precisely because I would have wanted the whole family on one PNR for the reasons you found.

Anyway, I am glad you got through CDG and all sorted in the end. I have not had the(dis)pleasure of connecting at CDG, and frankly I hope I never do.
