A future travel voucher is fine. Even better would be to put us on the flights we booked and paid for before their website let somebody else cancel our tickets. Why should our plans be upended due to either a bug in their system, or a security hole in their system?

cancelling is an option. While understanding the disappoint, don't let the disappointment spoil the trip / flight. It will still be a nice flight compared the way most people travel.
Cancelling is only an option if we want to forfeit the nonrefundable reservations we've made.
