I asked the rep from the distributor who was pouring it if she had done any tastings for Malbec World Day and she had never heard of it. This does not surprise me. I imagine she works for a distributor who is very light on Malbecs in their portfolio. Given the growth Malbec has been having in the US over the past 10 years, this is a relevant "fault" in this distributors portfolio... although I will also blame Wines of Argentina for not doing enough to make sure all relevant US distributors know more about this grape and the in-roads it has made in the US market.
