Says who? Plenty of people neither like nor need credit cards. A visa or mastercard debit card does everything that is needed for purchases . Nothing irrational about using debit cards

ime renting with a debit card is no different than renting with a credit card

Prior to pick up a hold is taken on the card
On return, a charge for the actual rental is made
after a few days the hold clears ( the original hold doesn't tend to clear when charge goes through since the hold and the charge are often not for identical amounts )
