Communicating with passengers is NOT COOL, I know, but it sure would be nice!!!
The flight deck should have communicated, and in my (rare) experience when pax are moved around for W&B on a mainline aircraft, the plane is (A) lightly loaded and (B) the traffic is from front to aft, not the other way around.
