I thought PETER01 was saying that AA Gold didn't get all the benefits of BA bronze (i.e. T-7 seat selection), but in retrospect he probably wasn't saying that at all. I have recently become an avid defender of the level as my household has 2 tiny members......who, as FrancisA points out, achieved it after one trip... It gets a roasting on here but anyone who gets it through non-flexible domestic flights is paying a hefty price.
