It's a shame that these iconic airlines keep trying to come back this way. Look how many times Pan Am's good name has been dragged through the mud since their initial demise in 1991. I remember one incarnation in the late 90's that was a spectacular failure, flying to/from secondary airports with fuel guzzling 727s and eventually relegated all the way down to a regional carrier flying Jetstream 31's in Massachusetts.

I'd be all for this if they'd bring back the names on an airline with regular service, strong investment, and a viable business model i.e. Jet Blue, Spirit, Virgin America, etc. But seeing names like Pan Am, Eastern, Braniff, et al. on charter planes or niche carriers flying off the wall routes (Allegiant) does nothing for me but leave a feeling of disappointment.
