A tad harsh, wouldn't you say... clearly you're both right in that it is having a negative impact on passengers which is being voiced to the front-line staff who can only work with the tools given to them by the higher-ups.

You are frustrated from a passenger's perspective and the crew member is frustrated from his perspective. The crew member was wrong in voicing their frustration to you, the customer.
