Been traveling regularly to Nassau for the last 2.5 years and have been able to watch the BahaMar project go from demolition to near completion. December 2014 is the opening date for sure. It won't slip because the Chinese are in charge of the entire project; BahaMar is a joint China/Bahamas project and the Chinese have brought in thousands of laborers to build it (it is surreal seeing Chinese signs everywhere in the islands). This will not be a little beach hideaway hotel thought (not even like One and Only). It is part of a huge complex with a Vegas like model... the whales gamble at the tables while the significant others relax at the beach, hit the spa or shop.

The Bahamas has a lot on the line with the entire project, including thousands of jobs. I just hope that these hotels do not go the way of the Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton Bahamas, who just could not maintain the customer service levels to be true to the brand. If you've eaten at Nobu at Atlantis, or visited OAOC The Bahamas is not really known for customer service.

It does look like a sweet hotel though and the whole complex looks amazing as the buildings are really taking shape and the gold course is finally looking like more than a sand pile.
