You should be able to claim for "reasonable" things that you might not be expected to have two of (e.g. phone charger?)...I sent in around £100 of claims to BA after my bag spent 72 hours sat in Milan for no reason. BA paid without a problem, and never explained why a priority tagged bag just sat on the ramp whilst some 15 odd BA flights to LHR took off without it.

The day it was delivered I was sent a text at 7am saying it would be loaded on the evening flight (my flight, but 72 hours late), with 4 flights leaving in the meantime. Bizarre.

Air France took 4 days to find my bag in the depths of CDG a few years ago, although to be fair, it was never meant to be there in the first place. It was couriered to my place, and ~£300 was refunded to cover expenses.

In both cases (geddit!) phoning the airline was basically pointless....when the bag turns up, it turns up. Calling the baggage line will not get you the bag sooner.
