Fast forward 24 hours tothe morning of my arrival, I called asking if an early check-in was available and they said they were trying to get a "suite" ready for me. I was surprised as my call 24 hours early revealed no suite so I thought it was a lost in translation type of deal... lo and behold I get there to checkin at 3PM and I was escorted to my corner suite. It had Bvlgari bathroom amenities and even its own intercom/video camera. It was quite far from the elevator. Not the most spectacular suite I've ever been given but it was definitely a nice surprise. They definitely seemed to go out of their way to give me a 50nt plat a nice time in Kyoto. I give them thumbs up for the superb stay.
Just returned from a great stay in Kyoto and like you, I was upgraded to a Luxury Suite after they returned my SNA's. I received the email the day before saying they could not apply them but was greatly surprised upon checkin in to get a nice suite on the top corner of front building looking out over temples, and city. The bathroom was lacking in space but the views from balcony made up for it!
