This is by far the best option, although keep in mind the bus only runs every 30 minutes at certain times of the day, and I would plan on it being a few minutes earlier on the return trip.

When leaving the airport, you need to catch the bus going towards Santa Clara Caltrain, NOT towards the metro station. They both stop at the same place, and both have the same number, so be sure to check the destination on the bus itself.

The good news is that the bus is free.

Google Maps will show you where the In-n-Out is, but do not try and use Street View - it's a newer location, and doesn't exist in StreetView.
