Why would anyone with an ounce of sense expect operations like Expedia or Travelocity to have a clue? Basically you should expect them to tell you not a proper answer but just what they think you want to hear.
If the OP would have done a bit of a search, he would have easily found out that the policy of the operating carrier applies.
Sure, the whole code-sharing business stinks. And this might be a good case to take to court. Take all of them, LH, AC and their agent Expedia. However short of that I suspect even the CTA will support current policies.
Otherwise the whole codesharing business is no longer really doable.
