We just flew home out of ZRH a couple of weeks ago. Yes, you can tap your boarding pass at a star gold kiosk instead of the regular one, to allow you to enter security. Security is very quick, again in the star gold line. I have never had to wait long for immigration, usually 1st or 2nd person in the line! The most time consuming part of it all is actually getting to your gate after immigration. You will most probably take a train, and then you have a walk to your gate. There is one last security check point before boarding. You can again do the shorter star gold line rather than the long one!

You will probably be just fine. I love Zurich airport shopping. Too bad you will probably not have time for that! We (hubby and I) fly in and out of ZRH to/from ORD at least 2-3 times a year. Very efficient. As was mentioned, the Swiss know how to handle things.
