My upgrade did not clear and I did not expect it too as I believe there were several pax with higher status whose upgrades also did not clear according to the lounge. However, a bunch of teenagers walked by while I was seated and they were discussing how two of their friends got upgraded because one of their moms was friends with a AC staffer.
AC 156 is difficult to upgrade now that they're pods and a downgauge is unlikely. Many are paying J or Latitude/instant upgrade.
I'd send a note to AC with the flight number and date and have them investigate those other 'upgrades' from AC staff.
