BTW, I learned from a friend who rents a lot to always take a photo of the back of the car and the license plate. He once "lost" his in a parking garage because he couldn't remember what car he rented!
Earlier this year, the valets at a resort in SoCal (I won't name them, because it was otherwise a great stay) gave me the wrong rental car (same make/model/color), and I started to drive off in it, and it was only because I noticed the hang tag on the floor with a different rental location that I turned around and came back.

I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often, actually.
