Hi FrenchBelle-
The reason for the Rimowa dividers inside the clamshell case is simple.
Without the dividers, the case can be overloaded, resulting in clamshell blowout.
I think we all have seen at one time or another, someone with a piece of luggage that was over-packed, not centered, with the resultant clothes, shoes, and underwear trailing behind the case, or exploding everywhere.
I saw this at a business conference once with the unfortunate speaker turning vermillion red as everything spilled out of his luggage case for all to see. Today I remember nothing about the topic, nor what he had to say, but I remember vividly the scene he created.
By using the dividers as intended, the packed items are stable, not loose, balanced somewhat, and do not allow blowout. Your choice in underwear remains your secret.
PS:
You are correct about the Rimowa Deluxe Salsa Hybrid model with the Cordura exterior pocket material. This model is the evolution of the original Bolero model, and was introduced exclusively for customers in North America.
