BA don't guess anything. CX tell BA how many reward seats are available, and if they are booked by someone else that's it there gone. It is very likely someone booked them, and I am afraid CX are not going to keep reward seats available just becuase you needed time to get your amex point across to avios. Check on 17 or 16 May as there may be seats then. I am sure there must be some seats available between now and 18 May. As I said, keep checking for 18 May as well as sometimes CX release more seats closer to the date.
