I read a few weeks ago that SunTrust would cease to offer the Skymiles debit card for new accounts "soon". That appears to be happening now, because when I tried to sign up yesterday the direct links to the card were not working and searching the SunTrust site for "Delta" or "Skymiles" turned up nothing.

I used the live chat on their page yesterday afternoon and was told it was still available, so I called to verify that the live chat session was secure and then signed up via the chat. I thought maybe there was a temporary problem with the SunTrust site, but I just saw a tweet that led here http://boardingarea.com/viewfromthew...-new-accounts/ reporting that it is no longer available. One commenter was told at a branch it is no longer available, while another was able to sign up over the phone today. Looks like if you've been putting off getting this card, you'll need to sign up via chat or phone call and probably shouldn't wait any longer.

I received confirmation yesterday that the account has been set up, so now I just have to wait and see if I do indeed receive the Skymiles debit card.
