The police are useless in most detective cases IMO. One of our stores had a grab and run. Of course, we have some of the best surveillance image quality available at the time, and got a perfect headshot of the guy - Cops couldn't figure it out, mall security couldn't figure it out, showed it to an acquaintance who is the manager of the Kay Jewelers in the mall, and he immediately recognized him and said that the local PD AND mall security should be familiar with the guy because he has a sticky hand. Anyways, the manager gave me the info (including his address) to the cops and literally had him in cuffs within the hour...

If you know where the car is, local PD will be able to locate it quickly, but otherwise, just hope somebody else tells the PD where the car is
