Compensation for No Car Availability?

I made a reservation Friday night 4/4 as a President's Circle member for Monday night. When I arrived at the airport location on Monday, I was told that there were no cars available and all the other rental companies were sold out. Apparently there was a big convention nearby and the GM recall also took away some cars.

I was offered a cab ride to my destination (40 minutes away) and the fare for the cab would be taken off my next Hertz rental. All other nearby locations were sold out as well, so now I'm stuck with the inconvenience of using hotel shuttles.

Is there generally more compensation given for this sort of situation besides what I mentioned above? I was not happy to see that the car availability guarantee is not actually a guarantee.
