Wow, a lot of emotion about a minor issue on a 75 min flight. OP, yeah would have been better had this not happened, but I can imagine a harried FA doing his/her best, with what is just too little space on this aircraft.
I'm mentally contrasting this with a trip I took a few years ago that involved going on a river boat down the Amazon for a couple of hours. Also far too little space for the number of people on the boat plus their luggage (though I hasten to add, not so overloaded to be risky -- I think!). As we and a bunch of locals boarded, a great confusion ensued as everyone's belongings were stowed and restowed in a crowd-sourced optimal packing. Someone's basket of vegetables ended up between my legs and I remember my wife's bag ended up on the seating bench with two small kids perched on top of it, enjoying being higher up than anyone else. It was certainly not a comfortable few hours, but everyone was incredibly friendly and it was all done in an atmosphere of good-natured shared responsibility.
I'm not trying to moralize (and I know there was an awful lot of jockeying for position that we didn't notice) but any time I experience a "traumatic" boarding experience I try to remember this. And my faith in humanity is refreshed on those (rare but occasional) instances someone volunteers "I've got an X up there I could put down here if it would help". Just last week I was trying to find a place for my carryon (ended up in bulkhead - grr) and some kind young lady said "you can put it underneath my green bag - it's just soft stuff in it so go ahead and squish it!".
