The following from a blog written by an American shows duct-tape was used on the propeller of a US public aircraft somewhere in the USA (Colorado it seems)..

Since this happened in the USA (where litigation reigns supreme) it must be an OK thing because the aircraft mechanics are all licensed and certified (by the FAA I think). If am aircraft mechanic breaks "da rules" they lose certification, yadda it would seem.

If no aeronautical engineer says otherwise, I'd let this one go as an authorized operating procedure.
