This is very helpful. Was always a pain to retype my wife's maiden name to track bags checked in under her name and my name to check my bags.

Wish there was some way to solve for this (too common) problem. This bag status info is only as good as the baggage handler's scanning. Plenty of times I have had a bag shown as "checked in", but no further update of "scanned planside". So then you're left the whole flight to wonder if the bag made it. Most of the time it does (either the handler didn't scan that bag, or perhaps did not upload data from the scanning gun?), but there's no way to know until it shows up.
