Is there a way to see if my plane will have in-flight power?
I've got a transcon (SEA>BOS) coming up this week. I'm curious if there's a way to tell if the plane I'll be on will have the in-flight power. I've got a couple of options in terms of which laptop to bring, and IFP is a big part of that choice. One laptop can easily make the 6 hour journey without going dead. The other is a high-powered Alienware who's battery only lasts a little over 2 hours on its own because of how it's spec'd out. The Alienware is also not compatible with external battery chargers (ex. Anker Pro2's) due to the amount of juice it requires to charge.
All things equal (since I'm going to a gaming convention), I'd rather take the AW (Blu-Ray, 3D, my Steam library, et al), but not if I'll be staring at the back of a seat wishing I had brought the other one for 4 hours each way. I'd also prefer to not lug them both, given that the AW weighs quite a bit more than normal.
