Totally agree, in fact I would have stayed with the original itinerary. 35 minutes is indeed doable unless you are traveling with a carry-on too large to bring into the cabin on the SAN-LAX. Offloading large carry-ons from the hold at the Eagle's Nest at LAX can take an inordinate amount of time. Once you're on the bus you'll be at the gate for your JFK flight in 10 minutes. If for some reason things go south they will re-book you on the 11am LAX-JFK and let you take your chances at JFK. This would be a whole lot easier if BA/AA just set up a damn shuttle at JFK to transfer between terminals without re-clearing security ...
