Flight review BKK-CDG - Thai Airways - J/C

Here's a flight review of a trip I did Bangkok to Paris in Business class on a Thai Airways A380... The full review with pictures is here: http://lifestobelived.com/2014/04/07...usiness-class/

If you would like to ask questions or give feedback, always happy to hear it here or on the review...

Summary

What’s to like – Thai’s A380 delivers a very enjoyable service in terms of both their hard and soft product and it probably made it that much more enjoyable that this was my first A380 flight.

Could improve – If you enjoy the ability to get up and have a drink and converse with other passengers Thai doesn’t offer bars on their A380 service like some airlines, but all up I found it a very enjoyable experience.

—————————————————————————————————————

Flight number – TG 930

Seat Number – 21A

Aircraft type - A380-800

Check in – I was connecting from a flight up from Perth and because that flight left about 30-40 minutes late and because the plane parked away from the terminal rather than at a gate and we were bussed in it really made for a tight connection to this flight.

Lounge – Walking at full pace I only just made it this flight which was a pity as I enjoy the Royal Silk lounges at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport, but there was no time for this unfortunately.

Seat – Thai’s A380 has 60 flat bed seats on the upper deck with a seat pitch of 74 inches and a width of 20 inches. They are laid out in a staggered 1-2-1 arrangement so that each seat has access to the aisle which I appreciate (no climbing over your seat mate in the dark). To achieve this the seats can seem a little narrow, but if you choose a window seat with the seat right next to the window you are semi-enclosed in quite a private little compartment of your own. The bed when fully extended was comfortable and the entertainment system had a good selection of movies, tv shows, games and music.

Food and beverages – I always appreciate Thai’s food as being of a pretty high standard and this flight was no different. The menus were:

The starter was quite tasty and interesting.

For the main I chose the Grilled Cod with Mango Salad and Tossed Seaweed Linguine which was also very nice.

The dessert and cheese board was a nice ending to the first meal service.

A couple of hours prior to arriving into Paris the breakfast service was commenced. This was composed of some sliced fruit in the first course and I went with the hot breakfast option.

Service quality – As usual I was impressed with the friendly and efficient service by the Thai crew, attentive without being intruding.

On time – We arrived into Charles de Gaulle airport on time.

Conclusion – This was my first flight on an A380 and I was really looking forward to it, the aircraft landing and taking off was very smooth, the cabin was quiet during the flight and the food and beverage service was of a good quality. All up I am looking forward to further flights on Thai’s A380s.
