I do not think this was racism at all. I have been in airline lounges where there is a sign stating"We do not announce flights and for you to look at the Flight Information Display Monitor for your flights".
No one is obligated to announce your flights and even if they did you may have been engrossed in a conversation or something else that made you miss the announcement.
If a Lufthansa crewmember called you a name or said"Because your South Korean you will be served last" then of course that is direct racism.
People today think actions are racist based but it cannot be proven. You go and apply for a job and they decide not to hire you. You think its racist but the company truly saw a skill that the other person had that you do not have. As long as the company is following the EEOC then there is no case.
I've never experienced any racist acts on Lufthansa. The crew has been very nice to me. I try my best to speak German to them.
Now possibly these people in the lounge must have done something beyond what the story is stating. I have asked a lounge attendant to tell me when its time to board the flight and they are more than happy to do so.
I think these customers were not proactive enough by following up with the gate agent or flight information monitors.
So the next time I'm careless and miss my flight I should go to a lawyer and file a racial claim as well as denial of service? I think not because if the airline tried to get the passengers attention and it wasn't the airline's fault then tough luck.
