TR: LCY to ARN, Stockholm

Arrived at LCY in plenty of time. As we approached the Club check-in desk a member of staff tried to divert us to the Eurotraveller queue until she saw our Gold card. However, Club and Economy check-in desks were busy but a helpful member of staff helped us print off the luggage labels and we dropped our bags off quickly . Security queues weren't too long and we were soon waiting for the others to arrive to start the 50th party weekend of one of friends in Stockholm. As this was a morning flight we had breakfast in one of the restaurants. Service was good but food was barely hot and overpriced

Gate was announced 30 minutes before scheduled departure time and we headed to the gate where there was a small separate fast rack area. When we were ready for boarding an announcement was made inviting those in Club and Gold card holders to board first. No mention of silver, bronze or other OW status holders. Take off was delayed by about fifteen minutes. Before the safety briefing the crew explained that we could now use portable devices and apologised that the recorded announcement had not yet been updated to reflect this. (How long does it take?).

The aircraft is an Embraer 170 with a 2-2 seat formation throughout. We were in seats 1c and 1d. Seats were comfortable with enough leg room for a shortie like me. There are two cabin crew, the senior being a ‘line manager’, whatever that is. Both crew serve the breakfast to the Club cabin, which is not full. We are asked which of the breakfast items we wanted. The full choice was cooked breakfast, yoghurt with muesli, roll and marmalade. To drink we had champagne (Monopole Heidsieck) with a side order of orange juice. The crew then moved to Eurotraveller who were offered a hot breakfast or a healthy option.
The proactive service then seemed to stop with one cabin crew reading his book. We had to ask for the second and third bottles of champagne (first world problem), both of which arrived quickly. Landed on time and we soon off the aircraft, through passport control and at the baggage carousel where, for once, priority baggage worked and we off to Central Stockholm via Arlanda Express which had standing room only, which was disappointing considering how expensive it is.

Overall a good experience. Return journey report to follow…..
