Using AA miles for 2 in F 'costs' only a little more than a 2-4-1 with Avios, I think, and lower taxes and fees I suspect. I've never experienced QF F, unlike my ex-boss who raved about it, so this opportunity is looking attractive.
I wasn't trying to correct you just highlighting that there is actually more availablility in F on QF to Aus than BA. Which is another factor to consider for the OP.

Two other things to note:
it is harder to reach elite status on AA;
you will earn status bonus double miles on ALL OW carriers not just a few like BA.
