I might suggest that you take your new Rimowa case to a Rimowa store, or authorized dealer and let them sort it out. I would be completely honest with them as to the causation: If you didn't see what occurred, then let them know that.
If it is new as you state, then repairs would be covered, and not void your warranty. If you attempt to do this yourself, or let the local shoe repair shop have a go at your case, you may compound your present experience in the process.
