I think you're confusing this with the ability to have one card showing your status while crediting your flight (both status points and miles) to another account.

E.g. I have OZ*G but am flying on a cheap fare that will only accrue miles to AirNZ airpoints, so I have my OZ*G number in the 'non accrual field', thus allowing my gold status to show up on the system (which in turn allows me to access premium seating, lounges, etc), while my AirNZ number is in the regular frequent flyer field, so I'll accrue airpoints and status points to that.

You usually have to push to get the reservations staff to enter both numbers, and more often than not they don't know how to do it, say it can't be done, or stuff it up one way or another. However, when it works it is very handy. In this instance my boarding pass would read "OZ*G FQTV NZ".

As Xiaotung said, you can't split status points and miles from each other though.
