I sent email to Mark Street with some figures on asking about this and - no reply yet.
But out of interest and based purely on what NZ tell me is the base fare, the most SP can be earned as at 20 June 2014 doing AKL to SYD in J class for base fare of $538 and earning 71 SP ($7.58/SP), and as the new system based on the fare paid you would expect a D class AKL to RAR ticket base fare $1063 to earn 140 SP no only 72.
So is IMHO an outright lie to say based on fare paid, it is clearly not nor even based on class flown, it is based purely on where they have competition - why can they not say that and at least show some iota of integrity over these changes !!
