Fare difference charged, even though same fare was available
Hey all,
This is the scenario: I had booked a trip LAX-SYD (as a QF flight number, but through aa.com) on the evening of 3/27, and on the morning of 3/28 find out that the arrival for the trip needs to be moved a day earlier. It'd been less than 24 hours, so I called AA reservations and was told there would be a $400 fare difference charged to me.
I was able to get the change fee waived, but they were insistent on the fare difference, even though I looked while on the call and was able to find flights for the same fare I'd paid the previous day.
Have any of you had any experience with being able to get the fare difference refunded if in fact a cheaper alternate flight was available?
