Is this a decent Avios strategy going forward?
Hi All!
I got the BA VISA card a couple years ago when there was the 100,000 Avios bonus on it. I also put $30K on it that year, and I got a companion award ticket, which will expire this summer, as I had not been able to previously find award inventory for my wife and I, and I can't take time off this summer. However, I'm using the card right now, and I'll put another $30K on it this year and get one more companion cert. I think after that, I don't need one. I'll either use it and burn the bulk of my Avios or I won't be able to again, in which case, I'll likely use Avios for a bunch of short-distance USA awards. Either way, I don't think I need that many more. Thus, I'm thinking of getting rid of the credit card as soon as I hit the $30K threshold and the companion ticket posts.
My wife has an Avios account with essentially zero Avios in it, but she's a Chase Sapphire card holder, which is a transfer partner of Avios.
I think it makes sense to create a Household Account for us. Then I'll get rid of the BA card, but I'll have some Avios, she'll have some Avios, and if we ever need more, we can transfer them in with Chase Sapphire to her account, and I'll be able to access them, right?
Thanks for reading - let me know if that strategy makes sense!
