I think swapping planes is asking a bit too much - but I would like to think CX would try to move some premium passengers DMs if possible to the flight that was actually leaving semi-ontime. This might not have been possible with baggage - I don't know. Once in Shanghai I was at the airport early-ish and I got a call on my phone from CX saying that my flight would be delayed at least an hour (possibly longer) and all subsequent flights would be delayed. I was put onto the flight leaving straight away and was grateful for it. I checked the next day and all flights after mine didn't get out of PVG for a further three hours from dep time.
