I have a few points, many of which I believe have already been raised by others:
- if you wanted to avoid people hogging trips, you could engineer your system so that you cannot hold conflicting itineraries (eliminating the 'where shall I go problem)
- I don't actually believe people would make completely speculative (non-conflicting) bookings, since this would tie up thousands of £ in taxes and fees, in which case the £35 is not likely to factor into decision-making, and is a crude tool
- why not give people six free changes per membership year, per booking (not pax)
- can BA not come up with something less crude than charging £35 for this?
Finally, as this now appears to be implemented, how about a petition to FvdP? Moaning here is not going to achieve much. Someone drafts a letter, with constructive suggestions, and all sign it.
placing a limit on the amount of changes/cancellations which can be made was suggested by myself and a couple of others in much earlier posts
what one should remember is that we are talking about reward travel--and in so many cases elsewhere that is very often non refundable/non changeable
unlike some on here I do believe that some members do make multiple bookings and multiple changes----that has been admitted in posts on here
and that the charge has been implemented to cover the cost of administrating these
I do agree that the lack of notice is a bit off but BA are well covered by their T&Cs each BAEC member ticks the box agreeing to them
there has been some quite ridiculous comments made and I wont highlight any one in particular but the one about changing jobs to a non flying position as a result of this change is really and truly the biggest piece of nonsense I have read here
oops I did highlight one
