Same for me, but at LHR T3 on Saturday. Robotic gate agent at the dreaded gate 24 just whacked the tag on my small laptop bag (my only piece of hand luggage!) without as much as asking.

When I said I was travelling CE and it was my only piece of hand luggage, I got nothing but a scowl in return. So I asked her precisely which row in front of row 1 she expected me to place the bag under, and surprise, she didn't have an answer to that
