Had a second stay at Mayakoba in February. Note that there are two types of Ocean Front suites. One is larger with a "refreshment center" which is actually a kitchen with full refrigerator but not stove. There is a full-sized dining table that could easily seat 8-10 people, as well as a small separate office. Infinity pool on the deck was great for having two young children with different nap times. Reserved chairs on the beach were great especially since the beach was very busy and some guests had difficulty finding chairs. Note that there is shade on the beach but very little on our private deck.

During our first stay, Las Brisas was under construction so we decided to try it. By far the worst meal at Fairmont. Inattentive service and really bad food. Being on the beach, we often ordered food off the beach for dinner, saving room service fees. That being said, room service was still quite reasonable and we did that a couple of nights. El Puerto was excellent as it was last time. It is a bit of a disservice that it has the same number of stafs as Las Brisas. Breakfast buffet at La Laguna had great variety and quality. We particularly like the 5-6 different types of juices available. We avoided dinner there as we didn't find it particularly enjoyable on our first trip. We did take the complimentary car service over to Banyan Tree for dinner at Tamarind. Very nice atmosphere and quite reasonable for fine dining. Note that we required reservations for all of our restaurants because it was Spring Break.

Instead of renting a car this time, we used Cancun Transfers. Was very happy with the service. We took a cab into Playa and then walked down 5th and over to a grocery store to pick up some food for the kids. Pretty easy and felt safe, though I did meet up with a friend from Atlanta that is now living there.

Great amenities for kids. Kids robes, slippers, baby bath, etc. Friendly staff remembered their names and always said hi.

Boat tour first thing in the morning is fantastic. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed our daily walk to and from breakfast from our Ocean suite to La Laguna. Probably a 15-20 minute walk but mostly in the shade. A nice walk even with a double stroller.

Great place for family but not sure it is a high-end luxury hotel. That being said, it is on the higher end and we would definitely return for a family getaway.
