I personally sent Delta a rather scathing email about the changes. The big benefit for the upgrades at reservation was for hotels that have one bedroom units where I could easily travel with my wife and son when on business and be guarenteed a suitable room for us. Now, I need to book two connecting rooms and hope that we get upgraded when we arrive...

I also told Delta that their room standards were not on par with SPG group (IE, Toronto Airport West, Markham, Vancouver Airport, Edmonton Down Town, Bow Valley Calgary ect etc) and they only reason I stayed with them was becuase of the upgrades at time of reservation. I have P+ this year, but will not be chasing status anymore. I have started to book on RocketMiles so I can get the big bump in aeroplan miles. This way I can experiance some unique hotels, get the miles I want and not be concerned with chasing status anymore...
