In addition, during a meeting between FT/VFTers and select members of LH executive management (Spohr/Huber/Wagner) in Frankfurt in November, the LH management team, in a candid moment, came as close as one in such a leadership positions can in a public statement to admitting that they are using every means means available to squeeze revenue out of customers in a very opportunistic way.
I leave it to the reader to decide if that constitutes "scamming". @:-)
Fully agree with your sentiment - LH´s approach to revenue maximization have been rather questionable, and the zeroing out P/Z/D and even C bucket even when the cabin is empty and the different POS availabilities are just two examples.
But IMO there is still a difference between using these questionable, but legal tools and blatantly lying to customers that they cannot rebook into the same fare class even if the fare rules permit it. If that is what happened, I´d actually call that fraud.
