As far as not having legroom, I put my backpack under the seat (whether I have a second carryon or not) and in flight I'll move it to the floor under my knees so I have the space under the seat ahead for my legs. A trick I learned on FT (thanks!)
I don't know about everybody else, but with reduced seat pitch, I'm not able to maneuver my rollaboard to even get it under the seat. It would fit, if I could bend it! My computer bag, yes, it goes under with ease.
